On January 1, 2024, the Russian Federation has taken over the presidency of BRICS. In 2019, Brazil has formally asked Russia to change the order of the BRICS presidency as an exception to the South American State plans to lead the G20 in 2024. The XVI BRICS Summit to be attended by the heads of state will be take place in Kazan in October 2024.
• Aims and objectives of the BRICS Legal Forum:
• strengthening the legal cooperation among the BRICS member States;
• development of professional, academic exchange among lawyers of the BRICS member States;
• promotion of “legal diplomacy”;
• harmonisation of BRICS legal systems;
• joint activities on improving the status of lawyers, development of legal profession;
• building the capacity of the BRICS member States and emerging economies.
The 9th BRICS Legal Forum will be held on 19-20 September 2024 in Moscow, Russia, at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO University), hosted jointly by the Association of Lawyers of Russia (ALRF) and MGIMO.
The event is enlisted in the official Calendar the Russian Federation’s Presidency in BRICS in 2024.
We are pleased to invite not only lawyers from the BRICS member States (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa and new members Egypt, Iran, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Ethiopia), but also legal professionals and experts from other countries, who are interested to participate in the forum.
