Association of Lawyers of Russia (ALRF) was established in 2005, reunites 35 000 lawyers, has 88 regional departments, 600 local departments, 1 500 free legal assistance centres in all the constituent entities of the Russian Federation, 70 young lawyers councils attached to the regional departments.

 

The ALRF is a membership-based, voluntary, self-regulated, non-governmental association established at the initiative of citizens, who are united by a common interest to pursue common goals, and is the largest non‑governmental association uniting legal practitioners, scientists, statesmen and public figures. The ALRF’s activities are based on the principles of the equality of its members, legality, publicity, and aimed at the consolidation of the legal community to participate in building a democratic society and developing rule-of-law institutions.

 

The Association of Lawyers of Russia is one of the co-founders of the BRICS Legal Forum, which is held annually since 2014 in Brazil, China, India, and South Africa. The hosting party and venue are nominated subject to the chairmanship in BRICS. The Association organised the forum in 2017 and 2020, and will be the host of the 9th BRICS Legal Forum in Moscow, Russia, jointly with the MGIMO University.

MGIMO rightfully ranks among Russia’s leading institutes of higher education in such fields as international policy, law and economy. The University today is a modern educational complex, offering educational services in all three levels of higher professional education (Bachelor-Master-PhD), as well as pre-university and postgraduate programmes. In the last several years, there has been singnificant updating of MGIMO’s basic education programme as the University transitions to 3rd generation standards.

 Kutafin Moscow State Law University (MSAL) is the largest law school in the country, which implements programs for pre-university training, secondary, higher and additional education and one of the leading legal research centres in Russia and neighbouring countries. The MSAL has trained and graduated over 180,000 specialists with higher education, including many well-known, honoured lawyers and outstanding scientists.
