Video Address by Sergey Lavrov to Participants of the IX Legal Forum of BRICS Countries

In the video address to the participants of the IX Legal Forum of BRICS countries, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov emphasized that the «collective West,» led by the United States, is attempting to destabilize the existing international legal system in order to replace it with their own Western-centric «rules-based order.»

Lavrov stated, «Russia, for its part, is firmly committed to the principles of the UN Charter in their entirety and interconnectedness. We believe that the unconditional adherence to universally recognized norms of international law is a crucial component in forming a more just multipolar world order that respects the cultural and civilizational diversity of the world’s peoples and their right to self-determination. It is encouraging that our position enjoys broad support from like-minded countries within BRICS and other states of the Global Majority.»
